About Snake River Retrievers
Dr. Eli Lankford and Tiffany Lankford have been breeding and competing champion Labrador Retrievers since 2004. We started with one male and one female as family and hunting retrievers. We casually started running competitions and soon had people asking if we would consider breeding and quickly had a list of homes wanting puppies from our dogs. Dr. Eli Lankford’s research with muscle physiology and epigenetics helped in understanding the typical diseases that the Labrador Retriever can be genetic carriers for and how to produce healthy puppies. Snake River Retrievers was born and started to produce quality hunting and family Labrador Retrievers that also have the mellow disposition you would expect in a lab. At Snake River Retrievers we strive to produce healthy, trainable, retrievers that are lifelong companions. Most of our retriever puppies actually go to non-hunting homes that are looking for healthy labs, with a reduced risk of the common diseases and ailments common in the Labrador Retriever breed.
While our retrievers are hunting retrievers, they also double as family members and are spend time both indoor and outdoor. In Idaho, we live on three acres with an additional acre pond. Additionally, we border 100 acres of BLM river front. Our dogs play with our four children and get plenty of socialization and exercise. In Alaska, we own one acre where our dogs are greeted by various guests during the fishing season. They typically travel with us as we reside in both Idaho and Alaska depending on the time of year. While we take our training seriously, our dogs are still family members.
Our labs are often found hunting the Snake River of Idaho, the marshes of the Great Salt Lake in Utah, and the waters of Alaska. Many of our puppies have gone on to compete in international show, and hunt test competitions. You can find our dogs on the hunting channel, dock dog competitions, AKC hunt tests, AKC field trials, derby lists as well as therapy dogs, service dogs, and the best family pets you can ask for.
A few of the dogs on our site are housed with friends, but co-owned by Snake River Retrievers. This is to make sure the dogs are given the attention they need and love they deserve.
