Snake River Retriever Guarantee

We strongly discourage spaying or neutering your dog before age 1.  Talk to your vet about the problems associated with removing the sex organs and proper bone fusion. Click here for a review on the subject.   Below is an example of the snake river retrievers guarantee. Your official guarantee will be signed and given along with the puppy's official registration papers. The snake river retrievers guarantee is not valid on litters where the dam is not owned by snake river retrievers, unless otherwise indicated in writing.

YOU MUST HAVE A SIGNED COPY OF THE GUARANTEE. THIS IS EVIDENCE OF PURCHASING A PUPPY FROM US WITH A FULL GUARANTEE. PRINTING OFF THE INTERNET SAMPLE GUARANTEE IS NOT VALID.

Snake River Retrievers (SRR LLC) health guarantee

For any of the guarantees to apply, all of the following must be met: 1. The dog must be registered with AKC by of 4 months of age. 2. The dog must be registered in the original owner’s name, and not have been sold. 3. The dog must not have whelped or sired a litter. 4. The dog must receive a microchip before any exam for hip, EIC, CNM or EYE and this microchip must be on examination documents.

We would like to have the words "Snake River" appear in the dogs name. However, we will still honor the guarantee if it does not. 

To be covered by the Hip & Eye Guarantee:

 • The dog must be no more than 26 months of age.

• The dog must receive a vetrinary examination (ie rabies...) before age one. The weight of the dog must be documented at this time.

 • The dog must be of normal weight.

To be covered by the CNM Guarantee:

• The dog must be no older than 12 months of age.

To be covered by the EIC guarantee:

• The dog must be no older than 12 months of age.


In the event of suspected Canine Hip Dysplasia: 1. Notify Snake River Retrievers by phone. 2. Submit radiographs taken by your veterinarian to the OFA for their interpretation. 3. In the event that the OFA finds the dog’s hips to be dysplastic, a replacement will be made from a similar breeding after the following has occurred: o Receipt of a copy of the letter from the OFA stating the results of their x-ray evaluation. o Receipt of a letter from your veterinarian stating that the dog has been spayed, or neutered. o Obtain a letter from your veterinarian indicating that the dog is and has been of normal weight and has not incurred an injury to the hip in the past. Snake River Retrievers must be allowed full access to the dog’s veterinary records. o Return of the AKC registration papers to Snake River Retrievers o Return dog to Snake River Retrievers. We will, under no circumstances, refund money that had been paid for the dog, or be responsible for the cost of radiographs, radiographic interpretations, or any other veterinary bills incurred or expenses or any other costs. Interpretations of radiographic films by any groups other than the OFA will not be considered as valid diagnosis of canine hip dysplasia. If OFA determines the dog’s hips to be dysplastic, and the owner desires to retain ownership of the dog, snake river retrievers may, upon its own discretion, refund one half of the purchase price if the dog is spayed or neutered.

In the Event of Suspected Heritable Eye Disease: 1. Notify Snake River Retrievers by phone. 2. Have a certified veterinarian obtain samples for an official prcd-PRA exam. 3. In the event that the dog is affected with prcd-PRA (having both genes), a replacement will be made from the next available litter of similar breeding after the following has occurred: o Official prcd-PRA results are turned over. o Receipt of a letter from your veterinarian stating that the dog has been spayed, or neutered. o Return of the AKC registration papers to Snake River Retrievers. o Return dog to Snake River Retrievers We will, under no circumstances, refund money that had been paid for the dog, or be responsible for the cost of tests or diagnostics, or any other veterinary bills incurred or expenses or any other costs. If the dog is found to be affected with prcd-PRA, and the owner desires to retain ownership of the dog, snake river retrievers may, upon its own discretion, refund one half of the purchase price of the dog, if the dog is spayed or neutered.

In the Event of Suspected Centronuclear Myopathy 1. Notify Snake River Retrievers by phone. 2. Have a certified veterinarian obtain the sample for CNM. Positive identification must be obtained. 3. Have an official CNM test performed. 4. In the event that the dog is found to be afflicted (carrying both genes), a replacement will be made from a similar breeding if the following have been made. o Receipt of a letter from your veterinarian stating that the dog has been spayed, or neutered, or put to sleep. o Return of the AKC registration papers to Snake River Retrievers. We will, under no circumstances, refund money that had been paid for the dog, or be responsible for the cost of testing, veterinary services or any other expenses. If the dog is found to be afflicted with CNM and the above have been met, if the owner wishes to keep the dog, one half of the purchase price may be refunded, at the discretion of Snake River Retrievers.

In the Event of Suspected Exercise Induced Collapse: 1. Notify Snake River Retrievers by phone. 2. Have a certified veterinarian obtain a blood sample for EIC analysis. Positive identification must be obtained and the veterinarian must send the samples. 3. Have an official EIC test performed. 4. In the event that the dog is found to be afflicted (carrying both genes), a replacement will be made from a similar breeding if the following have been made. o Receipt of a letter from your veterinarian stating that the dog has been spayed, or neutered. o Return of the AKC registration papers to Snake River Retrievers. o Return of the dog to Snake River Retrievers. 5. If the dog is found to be afflicted with EIC and the above have been met, if the owner wishes to keep the dog, one half of the purchase price may be refunded, at the discretion of Snake River Retrievers.
